In mid-Moselle, near Cochem (10 km), situated on one of the most impressively
beautiful Moselle river curves, lies that small, dreamy town of Beilstein,
also named the “Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle”.

Winding Alleys

You will see quaint and winding alleys and wonderful timber-framed houses in Beilstein. Well worth seeing in this most romantic Moselle town is the picturesque market place with its historical tithe-house, the handsome former parish church and monastery steps (108 steps), which lead up to the Carmelite Monastery where the Black Madonna is sited.

The ruins of Metternich Castle are enthroned majestically above the township.
An initial saunter through the town leads one to understand why many Moselle connoisseurs consider Beilstein to be the most beautiful Moselle town in the region, which has often served as a backdrop in feature films.

The central location of our town leans toward many beautiful and interesting day-trip possibilities, whether on foot, cycling, by car or by boat.
